Evaluation: Question Seven

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

My College Magazine                                                 My Music Magazine

From looking at my college magazine and music magazine together you can see the massive change in my skills using photoshop. On my college magazine you can see that the model of the front has been cut out, and the front cover doesnt look professional at all, although I have stuck to the three colour colour scheme which was light and dark blue and black. The title doesnt stand out from the rest of the page and the text on the front doesnt show a main story as well as not being in line with each other to make it look professional. My music magazine looks more professional it also sticks to a three colour scheme of red black and white. The text on the front colour gives a more professional look as it is in line with each other as well as it standing out and something the R'N'B genre. The title of the magazine stands out, as well as the 'new' in the B unlike the 'new' on my college magazine. The photograph on the front cover of my music magazine looks more professional, it is not blurred or cut out and looks like a picture what would be on the front cover of a music magazine.

My contents page for my college magazine is simple with a lot of white space and it is not intreseting at all, the pictures on it dont look professional and there isn't alot of pages on it. My music magazine contents page doesnt have a lot of empty space, it has more pages and page numbers on it and looks more intreseting then my college magazine contents page does. The pictures I have used on my music magazine contents page look more professional and I had learnt how to use the SLR camera better by the time I created my music magazine than I did when I took the pictures for my college magazine.

Overall I believe that there is a big difference between my college magazine and my music magazine. I believe this progress has been made because of the better use of technology, as I built up more skills the magazine should be better than my first try, my college magazine. I think what made the biggest difference was the growing of skills I have learnt on photoshop as I had never used it before creating my college magazine so as I got use to it and learnt how to use it my work became better.

Evaluation: Question Six

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Throughout creating my music magazine I used a lot of different technology's, one which I have used before and ones that I haven't.
I used Photoshop to create my contents and front page, I also used it to edit all my photographs to make them look more professional for my magazine. On photoshop I used many different tools to make my magazine look as professional as I could. While editing pictures I used the magic tool to get rid of any blemishes they model may have, I did this for every photograph I used. I also learnt house to cut out the pictures by using the magnectic tool. I also could change or add make up, by using the brush tool and selecting the correct colour and density of the brush you could change hair colour, add lip stick, eye shadow, lip stick, blusher and mascara. On photoshop you could also create layers, and guidelines so that all your text was in line. You can edit the text with different styles, fonts and styles, you can also make the text glow if you want.
I used blogger all the way through the process of creating my magazine I used it to put all my work on, to put all my research for my magazine, I add all the processes of creating my magazine then magazine updates, final magazine and my evaluation.

I used indesign to create my double page spread for my magazine on. I chose to use Indesign to create my double page spread on because you can create guidline in columns like a magazine would have so it would be easier to type in the correct columns as well as them being the right size. You can also add shaped such as boxs which I useds to make my titles stand out. You can also add pictures. you can edit the text to any size you want as well as the font and if you want it bold to make it stand out.

I used prezi at the start of my magazine, I put on it the name, price, distribution, colour scheme and everything About the magazine I was going to create, this was called my production plan and you can find its in my early research and planning blogs.  I also used prezi at the end of the project to show some skills on different technologies I have got from making my magazine. I used prezi in my evaluation to help show that I have learnt to use different technologies in my magazine production as well as showing how I will attract and address my target audience to my magazine.
I used flickr in my evaluation to annotate JPEGS of my magazine, I did this on flickr to show that I have learnt to use different tecnologies in the process of creating my magazine. On flickr I annotated JPEGS of my magazine with how and where I would chose to distrubite my magazine as well as why I would do it, and how the magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread would help me do that.

I used the SLR camera for all my pictures which I took and used within my music magazine. I used an SLR camera because they take professional pictures, you can use different settings such as one which blurs the background of the picture and focuses on the model. You can also zoom in without getting close to the model and putting them off and you can also change the focus of the camera so you can get the picture clear. Taking my picture on a SLR made them more clear and like they would really be on and in an music magazine.

Evaluation: Question Five

How did you attract/address your audience?

I used prezzi to answer this question

Evaluation: Question Four

Who would the target audience for your media product be?

The target audience for my magazine are students because there is a higher amount of student who would purchase music magazines compared to any other age group, I am aiming my magazine at both male and female, but as the magazine is an R'N'B magazine more males may want to purchase it as stereotypically R'N'B is known as music for males. So stereotypically I have drawn my target audience as a male. I have said that my target audience would watch reality shows which are the music channel such as 'Gordie Shore' I have also said that they will listen to the official top 40 on Sundays and music from they charts and like music channels like viva. Shops which I have said my perfect target audience such as River Island, Bank and Topshop because these shops sell clothing that an R'N'B artist would wear.

Evaluation: Question Two

How does you media product represent particular social groups?

Posture; In both pictures the models posture are quite similar. Both models are stood up right, but also look like their shoulders are slightly forward, with a bit of an arched back. The posture of the pictures helps show the R'N'B theme of the magazine, as in my research I found that male R'N'B models on magazine keep to serious cool poses.

Gesture; The gesture of the models are quite similar they both stand up right with attitude. The vibe magazine model has his arms crossed showing the serious look and attitude through his body language, my model on my magazine has his hands in his back pockets which helps show the moody, serious attitude models have on R'N'B magazines.

Shot type; Both of the photographs on both of the magazines are medium close up shots, they show the models head and body partly. Being able to see the arms of the model help show the personality of them, helping to portray the attitude they are putting across to the audience, helping show the genre of the magazine to the audience.

Lighting; The lighting of the pictures are natural lighting, with makes the pictures look bight and gives definition to the models faces, showing clearly to the audience their facial expressions.

Angle; The angle of the shots are single shots of one model and a front shot of the model, this shows the facial expressions, and the attitude they are putting across to the audience, helping to show the genre of the magazine as the models have serious expressions.

Costume; The costume on both models are simple, plan and dark colours. R'N'B models on magazine seem to be in simple clothes, so that the clothes don't take off the personality they are showing through the expressions they use while modelling. The plan and simple colours help show the genre of the magazine to my target audience.

Expression; The expressions of the model of Vibe magazine has a serious confident look to him, so on my magazine I tried to get this look from my model, as if the models on R'N'B magazines are give across the serious confident look this expression on my model, it will help to show my genre of to my target audience because they will know what the R'N'B models look like on magazines they will know from my front cover of my magazine it will be an R'N'B magazine.

Hair; The hair of the model on vibe magazine is quite a lot different compared to the hair on my model. The hair on vibe magazines model is short and shows all of the face of the model, but the hair on my model is short but has a fringe which covers part of the models eye. I think that this shows a bit of difference between the magazine but not that different that my target audience wouldn't know the genre, the stance of the model, costume and shot type all help show that the magazine has a R'N'B genre.
