Reasearch & Planning; Contents Page Anaylsis

Genre
-  The Genre of this magazine is R'n'B
-  I know the genre because of the pictures used on the contents pages, the pictures are of R'n'B and Pop artists.
- I also know this by the simple colours used, white, yellow and green the colours are simple but affective.

Target Audience
- The target for this magazine is teenagers and earl 20's
- I know this because the contents page is simple but affective, so teenagers and people in the early teens don't need as much appeal on the contents page to buy the magazine as children would do and they also would buy the magazine for its contents not for what it looks like.

Layout
- The layout of the magazine is in two columns, one showing the contents of the magazine with the pages numbers and the other column has pictures of R'n'B artists with descriptions under-neath the pictures.
- The biggest writing on the pages is the title of the page 'contents' and all the other writing is in the same size, apart from the the descriptions under the pictures which are even smaller.
- The writing is also in the same colour, black apart from the headings which are either yellow or green.

Representation 
- The pictures of the artists are all serious pictures, two of them have a black background setting, in these pictures the artists are wearing black stylish clothes. The other picture is a serious photo shoot picture with colourful backgrounds and fancy dress clothing, with also other the top hair and make up. As these photos are serious it helps show the genre as they look cool and R'n'B is linked with 'swagger'. 

Media Language
- The photos used on the contents page are two medium close ups and a medium long shot.
- Everything written on the page is simple and doesn't have too much information, it makes the reader want to go to the different pages to see what they are about.

My magazine target audience is......

Age-
the age group my magazine is aimed at teenagers and early 20's
Gender-
The gender my magazine is aimed at is both males and females but as it is has a genre of Pop & R'n'B, girls may find it more for them.
Occupation-
The audience for my magazine is mainly aimed at students of high school, college and higher education.
Class- 
My magazine will be aimed at both working and middle class as it is going to be an affordable magazine.
Wealth-
As magazine is aimed at students, the magazine will not be that expensive so most people will be able to afford the magazine.
Interests- 
The audience for my magazine has to have an interest in music, as it is going to be all about music and gossip about music artists.   
Outlook for future- 
The audience is to those who are interested in music therefore maybe study music in education or go on to higher educations.
How to reach them-
To reach my target audience i will be creating an interesting music magazine cover to attract them to read it and creating interesting stories in which they will want to read about and will enjoy. I will be adding concert details which they might enjoy.

Reasearch & Planning: Masthead for my Music Magazine

I have chosen to use this for my masthead for my music magazine, i have chosen to use this certain masthead because it goes with my genre, it is interesting and stands out more than the rest.

After the questionaire and interviewing people about what they would like to see on a R'n'B magazine and what colours they would use on this type of magazine, i may consider in changing the colour of the masthead to a colour like red.

On photoshop I design three different mast heads which i could use for my magazine, i did three different ones so i could chose the masthead i liked the best as well as the mast head which suited my magazine genre. I also chose a name for my music name which fits my genre.

We analyzed magazines to help us decided what we wanted in our own music magazine.

I can tell this music magazine is pop because of the colours, pictures and fonts used. The magazine is bright and eye-catching pulling in its target audience which is children and young teenager girls. By the use of the bright colours it draws them into buy the product. we also know this is the target audience because of the language use like the slang words for example 'OMG'. we also know it is aimed at girls because of the pictures used on the front cover, in the pictures the people look happy and wear stylish clothes which also makes people want to buy the magazine, the pictures used on the front cover are of 'The wanted' 'JLS' and 'Justin Bieber.'

The magazine has a colour scheme of pinks, purples, whites and some yellow. The font used is bold and bright to draw the eye to the stories in the magazine. All the stories in the magazine relate to music, celebrities or life stories.

The shot types used on the front cover of this magazine are medium long shots, medium close ups and close ups.

We analyzed music magazines to help us decided what we want on our music magazine.

This music magazine is R'n'B, we know this because of the artist (usher) who is on the cover. The picture also shows us that is is an R'n'B magazine by the clothes that usher is wearing, he is wearing glasses and his clothes are fashionable. He comes across as being cool. The shot type used is a medium close up with a blurred out background. 

The Stories on the front of the magazine are relavent to the magazine as they are all about celebrities and music. 

You can tell the audience of this magazine is teenagers and young adults from the clothes, also the use of words like 'swagger' show the target audience. Colours and stories present in the magazine. the colours used are bright and bold making it eye catching and the fonts also do this.
